TRULS MELIN.

November 3, 1992 - January 10, 1993.

Curator: Lars Nittve

Swedish sculptor Truls Melin's works are tuly enigmatic - but enigmatic with an enormous visual punch. They insist on their own presence more than most Scandinavian sculpture does - yet, when he talks about them he describes them as products of a series of decisisions about what not to do. Their shapes are everyday, yet they seem to connect to some alien aspects of existence, an aspect somehow rejected by Being and thus outside all effort at categorization.

In the Lower Gallery of the Rooseum, Melin has created an exhibition of four new large sculptures oscillating between architecture, theater and classical sculpture. A group of mutants or monsters on the fringes of classicism...

Truls Melin was born 1958 in Malmö, Sweden. Lives in Copenhagen.
