ANDREAS GURSKY - Photographs.

25 March - 14 May, 1995.

Curator: Lars Nittve

During the 1970s and 1980s an entire generation of German photographers were trained, primarily by Bernd and Hilla Becher, at the Academy of Art in Düsseldorf. In this show the Rooseum presents ten recent photographs by Andreas Gursky, who attended the Academy in the 80's. He depicts of everyday reality in his photographs of land- and cityscapes. What at first glance appears trivial is by Gursky given a mystical content which differs from reality. Gursky treats the surface and the structure of the photograph in a painterly manner.

Andreas Gursky was born in Leipzig 1955. He lives in Düsseldorf.
