Micro Cinema, Critical Studies Test Site
The Århus-Malmö Exchange Programme 2006 examines the existing networks of cultural production within the two cities, and encourages additional modes of collaboration between and among the artists and institutions.
Artists, writers, social critics and institutions are invited to reflect and discuss different ways of examining “secondary cities,” focusing on ways to investigate the idea of how a space and its inhabitants identifies and structures itself, and the permeability of such identity constructions as it responds and resists the impacts of societal conditions.
In Malmö, the programme starts with a series of events in Rooseum. A moderated screening, which contextualizes the individual artist’s practice, will screen video works and contain brief artist introductions from Århus. This is followed by a concert in Microcinema. The following evening is the opening of an exhibition in the Critical Studies Test Site at Rooseum. Taking the form of an archive, the exhibition is a showcase of Århus works, both time-based and in other media. A reading group starts in Galleri Signal with examination of critical writings around the topic of public, cities and exchange. Parallel events will take place the week after, between 23rd – 26th of February at rum46 and AROS in Århus.
